The first step to setting up a two factor authentication on your google account is logging into chrome using your gmail account
Step 1: Click on your profile picture on the top right corner of your chrome browser and select manage your account
Step 2: Click on security on the left of your screen
Step 3: Scroll down and click on two step verication. Click on get started
Step 4: Login into your account again to verify it’s you.
Step 5: Select the type of verification, there are many options google gives for setting up 2FA, you can set up using your phone number, back up codes, google authenticator, in this case, we will use our phones as a second layer of security. click continue
Step 6: Enter your phone number and google will give you a code. Enter the code you have been sent via text message on your phone and click send
Step 7: Click turn on in order to activate two factor authentication
Setting up two factor authentication is one of the best measures you can take to ensure the safety of your gmail account. The moment a hacker tries to log into your account, you get a notification via message asking for a code. The hacker can’t access your phone and so they won’t log into your account in any device unrecognised by google
