Change your hacked Facebook account’s email address
Change your hacked Facebook account email address so that if the hacker managed to open your previous Gmail account to make changes to your password, you are still able to reset your password and lock him out. Do this,
- Click on the three lines on the top right corner of you Facebook page
- Scroll down to settings and privacy and then select settings
- Go to accounts and select personal and account information
- Change the email address. Make sure you confirm the new email address by entering the code that has been sent to your email
- Do not change the name yet as you may begin a cat and mouse game with the hacker of changing credentials
- Using the above steps, change your phone number as well and make sure it is a unique phone number which does not have the possibility of it being hacked
Pretend that you lost the password of your hacked Facebook account
. Yes, your account was hacked in a way that you don’t understand. You have finished changing your email address. It is now time to pretend that you lost your password and do a reset. Hackers love using AI tools or even just any other hacking tool to open an account. The best thing for you to do is to click forgot password on your login page and then reset your password through the email address that you added in your account settings.
Get back to settings and privacy and then logout devices from strange locations
- Under settings and privacy, select password and security
- Check where your logged under the string of words saying “Where you are logged in”
- Click on the name of the strange device. A new screen will pop up showing the place where the hacker has logged in, and the browser and the name of the pc, click log out
- This will log out your device
Set up a two factor authentication
Go back to password and security again. Set a two factor authentication. Under password and security, scroll down to “use a two factor authentication”. Click on it
Then set a two factor authentication using the method you want either through email, phone number, authenticator app etc
Now it is time to change your name
Go back to settings and privacy and select personal and account information. Select name and change your name.
Now remove every garbage the hacker posted in your account and let the world know that it wasn’t you. Your account was hacked. You are a bit safe but will be safer if you;
- Set a strong password
- Choose a good two factor authentication method
- Keep your device safe
In worst cases, where you are locked out completely, kindly contact Facebook. Having a hacked account can keep you in panic but it is better to stay calm. In most cases when someone’s account is hacked, the first thing they do is to let the world know that their account was hacked. But this is a wrong method because it actually lets the hacker know that you are aware that your account was hacked. Stay calm and follow procedures to recover your account
